SOTC 2012 Awards Application
Each year, SOTC honors members and their dogs, who have earned titles and certificates in various events. If you want your dog included, you must fill out and send in the 2012 Application Form. The deadline for completed applications is NOVEMBER 1ST in order to be received in time for our Awards Dinner on DECEMBER 1ST.
ATTN: From Suzanne Ellis - Congratulations to everyone for all of your accomplishments this year! Side note: Some listed ALL of your titles from all organizations which are really hard to fit onto the plate. So if you had an overabundance of titles on your form we narrowed it down to the titles for that organization. Thanks for submitting your awards and we plan to have these up in time for the Awards dinner on Dec. 1st!
The Hubbard Award
The prestigious Hubbard Award is an annual award earned by an SOTC member in good standing who trained his or her dog at SOTC for an AKC obedience title. This award program was established in 1980 by Noreen Hubbard in memory of her husband, Will. Will and Noreen raised, trained and showed dogs and actively supported SOTC. Noreen was benefactor and managed the Award until her death in 1999. SOTC voted to perpetuate and fund the award and Fran Lindstrom now administers it.
There is a point formula used based upon the scores and placements earned for the three legs toward specific AKC obedience titles. All legs for one title must be earned between December 1 and November 30. The Award consists of the winner's name added to the Hubbard Award plaque which is displayed at the SOTC building, with a small individual trophy for the winner, and $50.00.
The absolute deadline is the last week in November and the award is presented at the annual holiday awards dinner in December.
One frequently asked question relates to scores and placements from obedience trials by other registries, i.e., United Kennel Club (UKC), Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) or World Wide Kennel Club (WWKC), etc. Are they eligible? Answer: No. As established by Noreen, the Hubbard Award uses only the original regular AKC obedience titles, Companion Dog (CD), Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) and Utility Dog (UD).
