FLYBALL CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND SCHEDULES

Introduction to Flyball  Register Now!
Class Fee $45*
Classes are 50-60 minutes long and meet once a week for 3 weeks.

  • Dogs should have foundational training - preferably a beginner 1 level obedience class and/or really reliable recall. At a minimum, dogs should be able to focus on handler and come when called - most class work is off lead.
  • Topics include: what is flyball; is your dog a "righty" or "lefty"; dead ball retrieve, targeting on slant board, basics on box turns; using the jumps; introduction to passing.
  • Dogs are trained using a buckle collar, martingale collar or flyball harness and a four-six foot lead.
  • This class uses only positive training methods and positive reinforcement (no correction or punishment) and will include many training tips.
  • Maximum class size is 6 dogs; minimum class size is 2 dogs.
  • You will attend WITH your dog all 3 class sessions.
  • For dogs 6 months or older.

Flyball One  Register Now!
Class Fee $95*
Classes are 50-60 minutes long and meet once a week for 6 weeks.

  • This class is designed for dogs who have completed Introduction to Flyball and have the Instructor's recommendation for class.
  • Topics include: using props including continued slant board work transitioning to box turns, extending recalls to 4 jumps.
  • Drills to continue progress from Introduction to Flyball; focus is on safe box turns.
  • Please bring your dog's crate or plan to use one of SOTC's crates as needed during the class.
  • This class uses only positive training methods and positive reinforcement (no correction or punishment) and will include many training tips.
  • You may repeat Flyball 1 with the Instructor’s recommendation.
  • Maximum class size is 6 dogs; minimum class size is 2 dogs.
  • For dogs 1 year or older.

Flyball Two  Register Now!
Class Fee $95*
Classes are 50-60 minutes long and meet once a week for 6 weeks.

  • This class is designed for dogs who have completed Introduction to Flyball and Flyball 1 and have the Instructor's recommendation for class.
  • Topics include: continued box turn work, dead ball in box, building drive over jumps to/from the box.
  • Drills to continue progress from Flyball 1; focus is on safe box turns.
  • Work on approach to box and in full run for jumps for return to handler.
  • Please bring your dog's crate or plan to use one of SOTC's crates as needed during the class.
  • This class uses only positive training methods and positive reinforcement (no correction or punishment) and will include many training tips.
  • Maximum class size is 6 dogs; minimum class size is 2 dogs.
  • For 6:30 pm classes: If convenient, please arrive 10 minutes early to assist with ring setup. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!
  • For 7:45 pm classes: If convenient, please stay 10 minutes after the class to assist with ring teardown. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!

Advanced Flyball  Register Now!

Classes are 50-60 minutes long and meet once a week for 6 weeks.

  • This class is designed for dogs who have completed Introduction to Flyball, Flyball 1, and Flyball 2 and have the Instructor's recommendation for class.
  • Topics include: continued box turn work, passing drills, when ready-teams running side-by-side, handling dogs in the run-back area, box loading, pass calling and team building.
  • Drills to continue progress from Flyball 1 and 2; focus is on safe box turns.
  • Work on striding, approach to box, and in full run for jumps for return to handler.
  • Please bring your dog's crate or plan to use one of SOTC's crates as needed during the class.
  • This class uses only positive training methods and positive reinforcement (no correction or punishment) and will include many training tips.
  • Maximum class size is 6 dogs; minimum class size is 2 dogs.
  • For 6:30 pm classes: If convenient, please arrive 10 minutes early to assist with ring setup. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!
  • For 7:45 pm classes: If convenient, please stay 10 minutes after the class to assist with ring teardown. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!

  • This is what you've been working for, the final steps to competition.
  • This class focuses on getting you ready for a tournament. Drills will consist of running line ups, and singles and pairs racing. Perfecting your box turn, passing and striding.
  • Working on where you need to be when you're sending your dog and when they're coming back. How to do a warm up. And many more things you need to know to be successful.
  • This class uses only positive reinforcement and positive training methods.
  • Maximum class size is 6 dogs; minimum class size is 2 dogs.
